As a part of contract work I was involved into the tourism promotion project of the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Buryatia. Within this project Buryatia was presented for the first time in its history at ITB 2018 – the world’s largest tourism trade fair – that takes place annually in Berlin.
Located about 4,500 km to the east of Moscow, the Russian Republic of Buryatia presents a unique place within the largest country of the world. Being truly multicultural Buryatia is a home to Mongols and Cossacks, Orthodox Christian exiles and Buddhists.
Abundant in natural tourist attractions and cultural heritage assets, this one-million inhabitants’ Republic is a truly attractive destination for curious minds. Hidden between Europe and Asia it is also a gate to nearby Mongolia and China. For more information about tourism and recreation in Buryatia please click here.
Prior to the event I identified key contacts from the travel industry for strategic partnerships. I hence prepared related correspondence and designed the invitation for the B2B event that took place later during ITB. The outreach activities also included email and social media marketing (Facebook, LinkedIn). Additionally, together with other members of the delegation I organized the stand of Buryatia and took care of the visitors’ questions, translations in-situ.
As a result of the work performed Buryatia gained more visibility and significantly expanded its tourism professional network to keep the working relationships with.
